About

This group will discuss the problem-space and experiments that have been conducted in applying HPCs to interactive applications, such as military simulation. Traditional networks of computing assets are no longer able to support simulation scenarios of sufficient breadth and fidelity. Several organizations have turned to high performance computing for a flexible computing platform that is powerful enough to run these interactive simulations. The BOF continues the discussions and community building that began at SC’07.

Objectives

·        Identify the organizations and projects that are actively applying HPC to interactive simulations – e.g. training simulation, military experimentation, online computer games.

·        Exchange lessons learned on the work that has been done.

·        Build a community of practice in this area.

·        Seek advice from the leaders in traditional HPC applications.

·        Expose this application area to the larger HPC community.

Organizers

This organized discussion was started by people who were generally trying to use HPC for interactive military simulation, hence the bias toward that specific applications. Robert Davis and Dan Davis, USC ISI; Roger Smith, US Army; Dave Pratt, SAIC; Randy Shumaker and Brian Goldiez, UCF IST.

Please make youreself known to the organizers of this group and join the discussion.
